KNIGHTS WIN PENNANT; NORTH DALLAS WITHIN 2.5 GAMES
The Harlem Knights (91-55) have won their second straight NorthEast Division Title, and now wait to see who they will play in the
World Series. Sahara (78-67) hung around for a good part of the season before they collapsed in a very brutal month of August. Pawtucket (63-81) are in
third place, a distant 26.5 games out, and Fremont (59-88) will have finished below .500 for the fourth straight season.
The North Dallas 40 (76-73) had won nine games in a row, pulling to within 2.5 of the first place Montgomery Burns (76-68) in the SouthEast. Hattiesburg (71-74) is,
although not mathematically, out of the playoff picture as they reside 5.5 games back. St Louis (67-75) is in 4th place, 8 games behind Montgomery.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mel Ott
Player of the week for (September 4th � September
10th) is OF Mel (Master Melvin) Ott of North Dallas,
who for the week batted an unbelievable .739 (17-23)
with four home runs, two doubles and one triple, with
eleven Runs batted in and scored seven runs. Mel
picked up the slack for a slumping Bill Terry to help
North Dallas get within 2.5 games of Montgomery. Mel
had at least one extra base hit in four of five games,
at least two hits in each game this week and had at
least one run or RBI in each game with a slugging
percentage of 1.609. Mel led the league in home runs
and RBI�s and was second in runs.
