February 2001 Newsletter

Brother Knights,

I am sorry it has taken awhile for me to write, but I have been out of town quite a bit in February and March. This combined Feb/Mar newsletter will let you know what has been going on and will let you know of some upcoming events. Our next business meeting is on Thursday, 5 April 2001, at 7:30 PM. Hope to see you there.

Past events: We had a dessert pot luck social on 8 Feb that was well attended by our Knights and their families as well as some prospective Knights. On Saturday, 24 Feb, we put on a spaghetti dinner at the church in a joint effort with the youth group, who were doing a bingo fund-raiser. Then, the Knights began the Lenten season by leading Stations of the Cross on Friday, 2 Mar.

Upcoming events: We are planning to hold a 1st Degree on Thursday, 22 Mar, at 7:30 PM. There will be a 2nd and 3rd Degree on Sunday, 1 April, at St. Mary's Church in Caldwell. The Knights will lead Stations of the Cross again on Friday, 6 April, at 6 PM. On Easter Sunday, 15 April, we will put on our annual Easter egg hunt after Mass. The annual Knights of Columbus State Convention is the weekend of 20-22 April in Post Falls, ID. Our next pancake breakfast is scheduled for Sunday, 20 May and our annual Red Cross blood drive will be Thursday, 31 May, 2-7 PM in the parish annex.

Please welcome our new member, Jack Gilderman, when you see him. Jack and his wife, Claire, recently moved to Boise from California and Jack transferred to our council at our March meeting.

Check us out online at http://www.geocities.com/knights10581/. Many thanks to Fred Sisneros for putting together our council's web page. Our council web page is there to keep our council members informed about our council activities, as well as to help spread the word about the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Please pass any suggestions for improvement to Fred or me.

We will hold an election of officers for the new fraternal year at the June business meeting. Everyone should be thinking and praying about the leadership of our council in the coming months and show up for that important meeting to make your nominations and cast your votes for the new officer corps.

Fraternally yours,
Larry Connell, Grand Knight
