November 2001 Meeting Minutes
DATE: November 8th, 2001. Called to order by Chancellor, Paul Saras, at 7:40.
ATTENDANCE: Roll call of officers was taken. GK was late, took over meeting after minutes were read. A quorum was in attendance.
MINUTES OF PRECEEDING MEETING: Read and approved with no corrections.
FORMS 100: Walt Donovan mentioned Ron Dotson wanted to transfer in. Delayed vote until his status can be confirmed from Supreme. We voted and approved two new members, Skip Tuttle and Mike Clements. They will attend a 1st Degree on November 29th. There are several other new parish members who have expressed interest in joining. Membership chairman, Walt Donovan will check with Louise and contact them.
Past GK Larry Connell read a letter from Supreme congratulating our council on our active recruitment from the past fraternal year.
REPORTS:
Grand Knight brought up the Thanksgiving baskets at St. Vincent’s. We will donate a box. Also mentioned Marion Hour of Prayer with the Our Lady of Guadalupe icon.
Chaplain reported that Thanksgiving is a national holiday but you can make it a religious holiday as well and attend mass if you can. Annual St. Vincent food box drive is upcoming. Remember Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th; there will be mass on that Friday and on Saturday. Christmas masses will be at 5 and 9 PM on the 24th and at 9 AM on 25th.
Treasurer reported a balance of $1298.23. Bank needs new signature cards for new GK and FS.
Chancellor reminded us of prayer for vocations in the chapel on the first Monday of each month at 7 PM. Also remember our seminarian, Rob Cook in your prayers and send him a card or e-mail.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Annual “Rake up Boise” campaign is this Saturday. Meet at the church at 9:30. Community Director Ross Borden, Jack Gilderman, and Walt Donovan will be team leaders for the Boy Scout Troop 7 participants. Walt will take pictures. Yards to rake include Brother Frank Martin, Nora Henthy, and Leona Hill—Fr. Dennis suggests contacting Breege for more names.
Walt will purchase Thanksgiving basket for the KCs and deliver it to the collection site on November 18. Ross will coordinate helpers for distribution of the baskets.
NEW BUSINESS:
January 20th is the next pancake breakfast. Also reserved May 19th for spring breakfast.
Voted to donate $200 to Fr. Dennis for him to use at his discretion to help needy families within the parish at Christmas.
It is time again for birthright donations. Bring gifts to the December meeting (diapers, formula, blankets, etc.).
Remember to ask for Madonna and Child stamps from the US Post Office to use on all your Christmas mail. If there is no demand for the stamps, the USPS will discontinue them.
Annual Blood Drive is scheduled for March 21st.
GUEST SPEAKERS:
District Deputy reported there is a state convention meeting Tuesday night at St. Mary’s in Boise. Convention is April 19-21. Said for us to bring in our copy of Columbia Magazine and leave it at the church when we are done with it.
GOOD OF THE ORDER:
Fr. Dennis: Building fund drive is coming—send in donations or expect a call. There are 14 seminarians for the Boise Diocese, 6 are at the new Trienan Home at the Cathedral. 4 attend St. Patrick’s, 9 go to Mt. Angel, and 1 is studying in Miami. Our seminarian, Rob Cook, attends St. Patrick’s. Fr. Pat Russell still healthy, remember Fr. Charlie Foltz, Bill Gould hurt his foot, Fr. Rob Keller is back in town since the first of November.
