Where do I start? I owned the Guzzi for over 10 years, did over 300,000 klms on it, and it NEVER let me down, not once. At 305,000klm it still had the original driveshaft cardan joint fitted. And the clock still kept perfect time. It went all the way around Australia 3 times, once with a sidecar attached. It was part of the family while my kids were growing up & was called the "Old Girl". Other bikes came and went during those 10 years, the Guzzi stayed. Very early in it's life (43,000 klms) it was totalled when I T-boned a U-turning Mazda. I bought the wreck back from the insurance company and went silly. 38mm Marzocchi fork kit, Koni shocks, stainless steel exhaust system with Conti replica mufflers, LeMans carbs & cam, gear camshaft drive, electronic ignition, complete re-wire, spoked wheels from a 750Sport, sump extender & external oil filter kit, nearly ever bolt, nut & washer replaced with stainless steel. The rings & rod bearings were replaced as a precaution, and the engine was never touched again. It would do a genuine 215 kph and cruise for hours at 170-180 kph. Doesn't sound much now, but in 1982 it was really something. I "lost" the bike in a messy marriage breakup, and I still miss it (the Guzzi - NOT the marriage).
