heart like a cathedral of stone

I have seen places of beauty
such as forests and oceans
which have taken my breath away.
I have walked the ancient stones
of Canterbury and Oxfordshire
and been left awestruck by their splendor.
I have felt the warming touch
of the noonday sun on my face
as I sifted for ancient treasure,
and I have dreamt as a child
in a rocket's lengthy shadow
of unreachable places yet to be climbed.
These are the defining moments of my life,
from which I have been made,
yet I would gladly give them up
for the singular glory that is you.
The forest cannot be as deep as your eyes,
nor the river as wide as your smile.
The intensity of the cathedral walls
is nothing compared to your simplicity,
and I would gladly spurn the sun
for just the slightest touch of your skin.
And the only unattainable place I seek
is one for myself in your heart.

"And anywhere you go, here or else beyond,
Nothing will stop me from finding what
Dream you're on."
