Hello...I am Frank Stafford...I was the lead singer for my band THE ROUSTABOUTS. We were a cover band starting out ,then I discovered I could write lyric's and Johnny (my organ player and son of Johnny Washington who wrote the old standard Stagger Lee for Loyld Price)and Steve my lead guitar,we wrote our own songs and thats what we did,our songs.We however did release one song,a remake of Del Shannon's RUNAWAY.
We did have a very successful 13 yr run from 1964 to 1977.At times we almost killed each other,mostly they wanted to kill me(and I would've deserved it)but things were a lot different back then,no fancy busses,just a car and uhaul,but we mostly played at a bar for a week,touring the south,southwest,and southeast coasts,sometimes I think back and wish we had toured the north.We were a close family,a bad comment about any member was taken personaly by all.We had offers to record,but each time as we were about to agree,the Record exec's would not want our songs or they wanted us to dress different or act accordingly to their wishes,well we were young (me 15)...lol through the oldest 19.I heard someone say once when I WAS really stoned,kiss my a--; and back then I thought that was really cool,so it kinda became my answer to questions or unwanted suggestions.However,we some how managed to be booked solid at least 200 nights a year,not too many bands back then.Lots of bars ,high school gyms,State,county fairs,USO Clubs,tv dance shows,benefits,etc.
Anyway,let me get on with what this site is really about.I Came clean (drugs) in 1978 with the help of Johnny Cash his family, and God,I went cold turkey as they say,locked the doors gave the keys to my neighbor and for 3 weeks went through hell with only fruit and exercise,man the creatures I saw comming after me musta come from hell.After 3 weeks I was clean and 50lbs lighter (145)I have not been on any controlled substances except one I take to keep me awake(I have sleep apnea)so all you users out there ,don't tell me you can't quit ask God and he will give you the courage and strength...now on with the show.
My old site was deleted by Yahoo that site was put up by a dear friend of mine who has her hands full and the passwords sign in were forgotten.
The old site ,it was said to be about two of my favorite bands THE ROADDUCKS and MOLLY HATCHET,Well folks ,truth be I love all musicians ,bands in one way or another,but the Roadducks are really special to me ,they took me in at another low point in my life,divorce and loosing my children ,Aaron and Laura,the Ducks will always be a favorite part of my life.All the ducks and former ducks Jazzbo McMann,but members Phil,Senator,Bob,Jimmie,Jay,Tommy,
Rob,Cracknell,Jon,Moe,Jimbo,Tracy,David and his wife Karn all probably grew sick of me,but thank God for all of you and those I may have missed...oops,I forgot,Little Debbie,she has my line memorized,The drunker I UUUH...
