Ranking Information
Ranking
Heres a listing of the ranks, lowest to highest, and an explanation. Ranks marked with * are subclassifications, meaning you can hold an actual rank, and be able to do these things as well. ** On a subclass means that you are not actually in active duty. If you have your heart set on a ** rank, youll have to talk to me about it.
Now, being a hunter IS an actual job, ladies and gentlemen. You work, and the hunter council pays you. However, its also better than a normal job, because you have the steady pay for just BEING a hunter, then you must demand a fee from those who employ you as well. A percentage of that DOES go to the council, but you dont need to worry about figuring it all; I will.
Mind you, Im talking in game terms; I dont make any money off this, and neither will you. : P
Hunter Ranking
- Candidate: Usually a young person, no older than sixteen, who has yet to be accepted into hunter training. Must undergo a test to become an apprentice.
- Apprentice: Deemed worthy to be trained, these teens are either trained in special schools or outposts called a Sanctuary, or are actually trained in the field by a Sora-kai.
- Accepted: Once over the age of 18, an apprentice becomes an Accepted, who is deemed skilled enough to actually engage in a solo hunt, though still is under the watchful eye of his or her master.
- Hunter: A fully trained warrior, initiated into a Guild or Society, who now holds actual rank as a hunter. May attend guild meetings and the like, and receives an annual amount of money, rather like a paycheck.
- Prized Hunter: A skilled hunter, who has privileges above the norm and is viewed as valuable in the eyes of the Council of Masters and Elders. Receives higher pay than hunters.
- Instructor: A non-active hunter who teaches beginning apprentices if they are sent to a Sanctuary rather than with a traveling hunter.
- Sora-kai (Master Instructor)*: Most traveling hunters discreetly hold this rank, though when situated in a Sanctuary, these men teach the advanced or special students, for example, adepts.
- Master Hunter: A hunter who is deemed a true master at their art, and is renowned amongst hunters and humans. They receive high pay, and are usually given special privileges.
- Linguist*: Most hunters speak Standard, but some only speak the hunter language. Others only speak their native language. Linguists are hunters trained in four or more languages.
- Historian*: A Researcher who takes notes on history, sometimes teaches apprentices, and always is there to record findings during meetings.
- Scholar*: Like a historian, but more devoted to their studies. These are the ones who generally figure out new hunter technologies and how to improve upon ways already in existence.
- Guild Representative*: Below a guild master, these hunters attend the meeting of the Guildsman Council, and report their findings to the Guild Masters. Usually the next in line to be the next Guild Master.
- Guild Master*: Every hunter belongs to a guild, and there is one hunter out of that guild who has been chosen to lead it. They must regulate their guilds personal code of honor, and must listen to and handle all matters involving their guild.
- Ambassador*: A hunter especially skilled in diplomacy, who often is sent to negotiate with other countries and political systems. These hunters run a high-risk of being either held against their will or executed during their missions.
- Knight: The highest ranking of all active duty hunters, these are the elite of the elite. Usually only consisting of twenty to forty members, Knights are the personal bodyguards of their Lord Master Hunter, as well as the most treasured. These are the ones given responsibility in time of crisis, and are always the first to take charge in any situation. They receive the highest pay of all active duty hunters, and are given land and funds with which to build themselves manors outside of Illumina.
- Bearer of the Jasmine Crest**: These hunters act as sort of organized message relay service between the council and hunters in the field.
- Councilmans Watcher**: The equivalent of a low-level spy, who watches certain events for the Hunter Council. They are loyal unto the death, and report all findings to their leaders.
- Councilman**: A hunter skilled in diplomacy, who regulate much of what goes on in the ranks to the Elders, as well as distribute news and order missions.
- Elders Blade**: The most secretive branch of the hunter ranks, the Elders Blades are a class most hunters view as being dishonorable. Rather like the Citadels own tactical espionage divisions, these hunters are the eyes and ears of the Council of Elders as well as their secret assassins. Theyre eerily loyal.
- Elder**: These men have been hunters their entire lives, and when they are deemed too old to hunt, if they have high diplomatic skills, they are promoted to this Council. The Elders govern what goes on in the hunter ranks, deal out decrees and order punishments, conduct meetings and the like.
- Lord Master Hunter**: The primogen of a hunter class, who has been given immortality through magic spells. They govern what truly goes on in the hunter ranks, and are somewhat merciless if it comes to cracking down on disobedient hunters.
