| Vince Carter Grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida with his mother, Michelle Carter-Robinson,and step-dad Harry Robinson. Vince was inspired to play basketball by his Uncle Oliver who played for the Chicago Bulls. Vince went to Mainland High School where in his freshman year he was relatively short.But after his sophmore year Vince grew 6 inches and had improved his vertical jump. By his Senoir Year Vince had become a young star winning many awards. Vince then went on to the University of North Carolina. He became a well known star and his jumping ability was being compared to Michael Jordan's.Vince Carter was selected fifth overall in the 1998 draft by the Golden State Wariors. Vince was then traded to the Toronto Raptors for former North Carolina team mate Antawn Jamison and cash. In his first year Carter led the Toronto Raptors in scoring with 18.3 points a game.Carter was named rookie of the Year and made the All Rookie First Team. Carter in his second season scored an average of 25.7 points a game and made the All NBA Third Team. |
