Recreation is a fancy word for free time. Since I'm enrolled in perfusion school, my free time
does not amount to much. I spend most of my time attending class, studying, and working in the
operating room. However, I make sure I set aside time every week so that I can unwind. The best
way for me to do this is to play the drums! I started playing hand drums two or three years ago
while I attended college at the University of Georgia. Here is a picture of my drums:

If you get a chance, check out this cool conga website where you can play along with the music played in the background.I also have been trying to learn Tai Chi Chuan in my spare time. Tai Chi Chuan, which means "Great Ultimate Fist," is a martial art that was created several hundred years ago. The movements are performed with slow, controlled motions and complete concentration. Focusing on connecting the body and spirit by way of the mind, Tai chi Chuan is now being utilized to effectively reduce stress, promote internal peace and help in preventing disease.
