Archer's Character Quiz
Take the Devil's Advocate stand. Describe what you (the player) hate about the character. What are the good reasons for other characters to dislike/hate the character? What little, minor bad habit does your character have that would annoy anyone after awhile?
Archer's almost too upright and definitely too reckless with his own life. His history is spotted by casting caution to the wind. So far it's rained honors on him and not delivered the death that he seems to deserve at times. His early history was exemplary of this. Now he's really settled down a bit. The role as a commander of men has tempered his actions, but not his thoughts. He would love to dive into battle with Gerard or Alfred to test his own abilities or just to be done with all the waiting. I hate that he's sometimes too upright for his own good. That's why the Dread Pirate Arcon persona developed. It was his chance to be reckless again and live on the shadier side of life, if you will.
He also, while average as a normal man, is a bit lacking in the Water area for an Amberite, unfortunate when he's dealing with his men. He has a wonderful tactical mind and he's not a half-bad swordsman, but as a leader, well that's where I'd like to eventually spend advancement points. It's what leads him to misunderstand the Machiavellian plots he's found himself embroiled in, like Uncle Caine's capture of him and the Sable Dragon.
Reasons to dislike Archer; He's unbelievably self-righteous when the mood strikes him and more than a little stubborn. He's got a way of grabbing the wrong meaning in a conversation and getting rather defensive about it. He's shown himself to be a facade under which is a young boy looking for a mother figure he felt he could never do enough for and scared of finding the father figure he's been running from for his whole life.
Little minor bad habits, I don't know that many of them are bad, but annoying? Sure. He's a smoker, which can annoy many, but probably not that bad in this milieu. How about talking to his weapon as if it's a person, to the point of naming her, first Jessamye, then Elizabeth, and now Katherine. He's also relentless in his pursuit of something, to the point of recklessness. (For reference, please see any conversation in Arden with Orinda.)
