My first trip to Hongkong was a pleasure trip and my subsequent ones were mostly business related. You can see from here my shots when I was touring the city - well you don't really expect me to take pictures while working do you :) Hongkong is a shopping paradise - from cheap goods at the Mongkok night market to designer labels at expensive boutique shops. While in the night market, our bargaining and negotiating skills are really at their best - even up to the point of arousing angry vendors !Shopping, shopping and more shopping :) ... my shortest trip to HK was actually a day ... i flew in from Manila in the morning, had a business meeting after lunch and flew back in the evening... but of course i still managed to shop :) ... i bought my digital cam and a VCD/MP3/CD recorder during that trip - they're really quite cheap as compared to other countries ...
While in HK i also tried to visit Shenzhen, China . This is the city near the HK border and went to "Little China" where i saw amazing miniatures of China's landmarks like the Great Wall. Chinese visas can be secured in HK through your travel agent and you'll be allowed to stay in China for a day - go in the morning and come back to HK in the evening. We went to Shenzhen via commuter train. Hhmm one of these days i would really love to go to Beijing (about 4 hours by plane from HK) and see the only man made structure that can be seen from the moon :) ... yeah maybe later i would go to the moon (hahaha) .... i'll try to probably bet on a lottery first so i can pay NASA for a package tour - ok Karen, back to reality !
Hongkong was the first country i have visited outside the Philippines so that country is indeed a memorable one. We went to Victoria Peak , overlooking the world's busiest deepwater port. The views from the four directions are really beautiful ! HK is such a busy and bustling city and i would say Asia's center of market capitalism. You can get anything and everything material from this place :)
A Sampan tour in Aberdeen and a lunch aboard the floating restaurant are also something worth going to. A hike and beach tour in Repulse Bay where red is definitely the "in" color is quite interesting.
And of course, i wouldn't miss Ocean Park - the city's version of Disneyland!
Well HK is an interesting place to see - for business and definitely for pleasure :)
