Quartzite, Arizona Knap-in

Just back from Arizona. Went to the Quartzite,Arizona knap in put on
by Jerry Calvert ( 9-fingers). Had a great time. There were over 30 knappers
coming and going at all times as this knap-in goes on for 2 months ( Jan-Feb).
Knappers from all over the USA & Canada came for the rock&gem shows
that run concurrently with the knap-in. Many new knappers get there start
as Jerry has a good supply of rock,tools,videos and patient advice for
anyone.Quite a few professional knappers came to get out of the cold of
the north and have a place to keep warm,buy an abundance of exotic materials
from all over the world and work for several months. I showed up with 500
lbs of Florida coral to chip and sell. I can honestly say that this must
be the longest knap-in on record. Jerry and his lovely sweetheart Mary
are the best of hosts and make everyone welcome. Look for the TeePee and
large KNAP-IN sign.
