I visited the city Taichung in the February of 2006 for two weeks. The city is located in west-central Taiwan with a population of just over one million people, making it the third largest city on the island, after Taipei and Kaohsiung. I visited this city on a business trip.
There are no complaints about my stay in Taichung as work kept me very busy. But with respect to food, Tuesday and Friday were very horrible to me. These are my vegetarian days and finding vegetarian food in Taiwan is very challenging. The hotel staffs at Howard prince were very kind enough to offer me some custom made vegetarian food. I have to accept that the hospitality at the hotel was terrific.
Surprisingly there were five Indian restaurants located at the down town area of Taichung. They were all located near the Hotel splendor. The disadvantage of this hotel is the place it is located. The hotel is exactly at the middle of the down town and there is huge traffic to cross both in the morning and evening to reach many of the semiconductor factories. So allocate a minimum of one hour drive to the work both in the morning and evening. But on the happier side, the Indian food will not be missed.
So any Indian vegetarians traveling to Taichung remember to stay in splendor, so that you do not miss the food. Visit the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taichung for more details on the city.
