Before You Play These Games...

First of all, let me just congratulate anyone who has beaten the original FF1 and FF2 that were released on Nintendo. You guys must be true RPG nerds without a life. I never played any of the original versions. I started getting into RPGs on PlayStation. I was really excited when I heard the news that Square was going to release a remake version of the original FF1 and FF2, until I started playing the game.

Square updated the original 8-bit graphics to 16-bit. There are also few minor changes that are added into this remake. A very crucial feature has been installed in this remake version. Without this feature, I dont think I would ever finish these two games. For the first time, a memo save is added. This allows you to temporarily save the game anywhere.

Be honest, I had merely no enjoyment during the early stage of the games. Square made them too hard that they sucked all of the fun out of them. There will be tons of random battles. Youll probably need to save between each battle, and you will also be doing tons of soft resetting until they frustrate the hell out of you, then you finally decide to quit.

Well, if you manage to endure all the pain youd suffer early on, the games shift to a much easier stage towards the end when your characters become stronger, and youve acquired better equipments.

All in all, these two games are not for everyone. They are only recommended for hardcore RPG players or old school RPG players. If youre just a beginner in RPG or anyone whos looking for an RPG for entertainment, NO! HELL NO! these are not the games for you.

Character Evaluations

My Party Members

Warrior/Knight: Warrior is probably the best class in the game. It can equip almost all the weapons and armors. After it transforms into Knight, it will even be capable to use White Magic up to level 3.

Thief/Ninja: Thief is kind of weak. However, after it transforms into Ninja, it becomes much better. It can even use Black Magic up to level 4. But, it is still not as powerful as a Knight.

White Mage/White Wizard: White Mage is extremely useful, for it has powerful healing and protective spells. After it transforms into White Wizard, it can then learn the entire list of White Magic spells.

Black Mage/Black Wizard: Black Mage has powerful magic spells, but it is very weak in its defense. After it transforms into Black Wizard, it will be able to learn the entire list of Black Magic spells.

Other Characters

Monk/Master: I have never really used Monk, and I dont think it's that great either.

Red Mage/Red Wizard: I have never really used Red Mage, and I dont think it's that great either.

Strategies & Secrets

Chaos

Chaos is the final boss of the game. He is actually Garland. Remember him, the first boss of your journey?

Before you face off with Chaos, make sure all of your characters levels are 25+. The battle should not be too tough since you have managed to come this far.

Final Fantasy II

Character Evaluations

Your final party will be Firion, Maria, Gus, and Leon. Everyone else is just temporal characters, so don't waste too much money and effort on them.
