Jupiter - 1st May 2017 - [viewing location Melbourne metro, Australia]:



Between 2.30 am and 3.30 am I took some zoom pictures of the planet Jupiter which was at about 20 degrees elevation to the West in the sky. Manual focus was utilised and set to infinity. Attempts at freehand as well as tripod mounted shots produced simlar results. It was challenging to position the lens as the tripod clamps would not lock firmly enough in place to prevent slight camera movement or "drift". The following are the best pictures from a series taken:
