"Sky Scan" project.

The aim of this project is to conduct regular photographic recordings of the sky in an attempt to capture any anomalous phenomena that may occur during each survey.

Analyses of the photos will follow in each entry where applicable.

Day 5:

The following pictures were taken with a Fujifilm FinePix XP50 digital camera (Settings: ISO 800; varied zoom magnification range in images.).

Location: Hookey Park and surrounds, Mooroolbark, Victoria, Australia.
Direction: North West.
Time of day: Between 8.21 pm and 8.49 pm.

Notes: This session was not a standardised or planned activity. Whilst outside on my way to do some other tasks I sighted a bright yellow/white/orange object at about 8.21 pm. It seemed to stop or remain in one position in the sky at about 10 degrees elevation and no sound was detectable. It is difficult to say if this light was either the forward spotlight of a helicopter or a fixed wing aircraft manoeuvering in the sky. Below are images and video that were produced under conditions that were characterised by sometimes difficult lines of sight on the object and a camera with fairly low level optical magnification and resolution abilities (a maximum of 5x optical magnification). The lens has distorted the light's characteristics somewhat and the true dimensions and "flare-like" qualities are not represented accurately. At it's largest the diameter of the light appeared to be the same as the head of a pencil held at arm's length.
