Well, to our surprise and delight, we found out Saturday morning the marriages were going to continue for the entire 3-day weekend. We decided to go in on Monday, February 16 and get married!!!! We called up friends and family, went out and bought wedding bands, and Kristen even surprised Emily with a corsage!!!
We awoke to a very wet and stormy wedding day on Monday, but we were determined, so off we went to San Francisco. When we arrived at 7:30a.m. the line stretched all the way around the block of City Hall, we didn't think we were going to get in, as they thought they could only marry 500 couples. We didn't care we were staying....by 10:30a.m., as the the line got longer and the weather got wetter, we were joined by Kristen's Mom (Margaret), 2 sisters (Karen & Ingrid), best friend (Carmen), and a good friend of Emily's (Gail). The mood was very upbeat and festive. 'Angels' were passing out coffee, bagels, and doughnuts to keep us fed and warm. Someone was passing out roses, someone else picture frames, and someone even gave out clean dry socks!!!!! By 12:30pm we were on the steps of City Hall and were joined by Rob & Dennis two good friends of Emily's who came to watch us get married. By the time we entered City Hall, Rob & Dennis had decided to tie the knot too. So we worked our way through the lines and paperwork, got our marriage licences and with Rob & Dennis as our witnesses, family and friends snapping pictures, we were married!! We were then the witnesses for Rob & Dennis' nuptiuals!! At around 3:00p.m. we emerged from City Hall and down the steps through the impromtu receiving line the happiest married couple in the world!!! THANK YOU GAVIN NEWSOME!!!!!!!
