Abstract:
The increased awareness of primary care physicians of psychiatry is mandatory. It is estimated that 80% of all mental patients seek their help either from the G.P or traditional healers. Many studies have shown that mental illness is under-diagnosed and under-treated by G.P.s all over the world. The promotion of mental health services especially in developing countries, where human resources are limited, is not through increasing psychiatric beds, or numbers of psychiatrists, psychologists and psychiatric nurses, but by better education and continuous medical education to our primary care physicians. The thesis aims to study and focus on the magnitude of the problem, Possible solutions to provide better care at the primary care level
