1- Inpatients service facilities
The institute?s capacity is 100 beds distributed on three floors 25% of beds are free of charge and the rest are payed with minimum fees. Both free and payed patients received the same level of service. Inpatients are classified into 4 units

The institute runs the policy of short stay hospitalization and most of patients lasted from 3 to 6 weeks then discharged for follow up at the outpatient clinics.
The inpatient department is a safe environment for high-risk patients and is equipped with all facilities needed for care of patients as Laboratory facilities, ECG, ECT subunit, Rehabilitation unit, and etc.
2-Out patient Facilities
Services offered include
Three general psychiatry out patients clinics working four days weekly. In these clinics about 200 patient per day are followed up
specialized clinics
Child Psychiatry clinic
In this clinic, we take the multidisciplinary team approach for the evaluation and treatment of the child. The team includes a psychiatrist, pediatrician, psychologist, nurse and social worker
Substance abuse clinic
This clinic is designed to help patients maintain abstinence and further enhanced personal growth and development. Services include individual, marital, cognitive and family therapies. In addition, we have developed an innovative group therapy program.
Psychosexual disorders
The clinic is specialized for psychosexual disorders and is operated once weekly at Tuesday.
Sleep disorders clinic
It is one of the most successful clinic as it is started about 10 years ago and a great number of patient are followed up in this clinic.
Memory clinic & cognitive disorder
It is a highly specialized clinic for diagnosis and treatment of patients with memory problems
Neurotic  stress related disorders clinic:
In this clinic patients are followed up and receive their sessions of cognitive behavior therapy.
Counseling clinic :
patients and family education program are vital part in the treatment plan of the patients in the institute.
3-Emergency service facilities
The institute has an emergency room, which is working 24 hours daily to receive emergency psychiatric cases by well trained staff.

Neurophysiology unit
Which is equipped by an conventional electroencephalography, digital electroencephalography, evoked potential, poly somnography and transcranial magentic stimulator.
Laboratory unit
The laboratory has the capacity for all routine medical investigation in addition to psychiatric investigations as drug monitoring for lithium and antiepileptic drugs, urine screening for drugs of abuse, also tests for HCV, HIV.
Clinical psychology unit
��������� This unit offers a comprehensive full psychological assessment using wide varieties of psychological batteries and recent computerized psychological measurements. It offers service for both outpatients and inpatients. In addition, the team participates in group therapy, cognitive and behavior psychotherapies

��������� This is done by using general anesthesia and muscle relaxants. Recently, we started to use Tthymatron DG apparatus which is considered to be a revolution in the field of ECT. This machine gives a printed readout of EEG, ECG and EMG, also there is a monitor present to assess oxygen saturation, temperature, tube and airflow, thus ensuring the safety of the patient.
Biofeedback
��������� This is one of the major treatment technologies in behavioral medicine. It is a process in which a person learns to reliably influence his physiological responses. The apparatus measures EMG, EEG, skin conductance, heart rate, blood pressure, salivation, and skin temperature. It is used of the management of a variety of anxiety and psychophysiological disorders.
Rehabilitation center
��������� The aim of the rehabilitation program is to resettle the patient in the community and to improve his functioning. The rehabilitation is done in the day hospital of the Institute of Psychiatry for inpatients and outpatients. It provides occupational training and recreational activities.
Educational facilities
Teaching theaters , We have� two lecture theatres, highly equipped by updated educational audiovisual devices.�
Library
The conventional library holds a number of textbooks covering different topics in psychiatry and related sciences. More over a vast number on of M.S. and MD thesis, journals and periodicals.
The library of microfilms, is a duplicate of the conventional library which provides both reading and printout of these microfilms.
Computerized library information database on CD ?ROMs covering the field of medicine, psychiatry, psychology, neurology, and basic sciences, all are available upon request.
The audiovisual library holds films and tapes covering some topics in the field of psychiatry available mainly for educational purposes. Also we have an Internet line available for searches.
Publications
The institute of psychiatry is publishing ?Current Psychiatry? and ?Psychiatry Update? which is scientific journals published four times yearly.

The institute of Psychiatry provides teaching for:
Medical school undergraduates , the curriculum covers theoretical and clinical training.
Post graduate medical candidates (Master and Diploma) , neuropsychiatry occupational medicine , dermatology , and phoneatrics.
Post graduate candidates from the Psychological Department of Faculty of Arts, medical division of the High Institute� of chilhood studies , High institute of nurses and nursing schools.
M.D. psychiatry candidates, Arab board candidates.
Diploma in Psychiatry Practice (DPP) in collaboration with Guys Kings and St. Thomas?s Medical and Dental School, University of London.
This is new post-graduated psychiatric qualification that aims at providing psychiatrists with knowledge and skills necessary to deliver efficient psychiatric services in a community setting taking the local culture into consideration.
