| Q. How long will it take to learn to use the system? A. Most new operators take around two hours to become proficient. Watch the instruction video two or three times before commencing plating operation. Q. What does the system include? A. All systems are supplied with chemical fomula, accessories, wiring, electrodes and one unit of 24-carat hard gold concentrate. In fact everything you need to commence your operation is supplied. Q Can I plate all metals with the system? A. Most metals can be plated, however, aluminium requires a special process which involves certain chemicals. We supply these chemicals if you require them. Q. Can I gold plate chrome plated brass taps? A. Yes! First the chrome plating must be stripped off. The reverse polarity feature of the system strips the chrome. Beneath the chrome is a nickel plate surface. The gold is plated onto the surface. Q. Can I gold plate chrome plated plastic, such as taps and car badges? A. Yes, the procedure is the same as plating brass taps. Q. I only want to plate a portion of an item, can I do this? A. Brush plating is ideal for selective area plating. Only the surface area that comes into contact with the electrode swab will be plated. Q. How long does the plating take to dry? A. The plating is dry and hard instantly. There is no drying time. Q. Will the plating wear off? A. Our 24-carat gold plating solution contains cobalt which provides a hard wearing, longer lasting finish. Eventually all plating will wear, depending upon the use of the item, e.g. car badges will last many years, car key's may have a shorter life. Q. Can I silver plate items? A. Yes. We supply silver, nickel, copper etc, in fact over 40 different plating solutions are available. Q. Can I perform industrial plating with the system? A. Yes. We have special high output equipment for industrial plating. Contact us by email or phone to discuss your particular requirements. Q. Can I use the system for "immersion" plating of loose objects? A. Yes. If you decide to expand your operation to include tank plating, the 2001 system is the way to go. Q. What is the working life of the system? A. The 2001 has an indeterminable working life. The first 2001 systems we built many years ago are still operating satisfactorily. The 2002 contains two power cells with a life of 500 cycles (charge/discharge). Based on 2 cycles per week they should last for up to 5 years. Replacement cells cost $100AU for the pair. |
