Grading Procedures and Classroom Expectations

Grading Procedures

50% of the student's grade is based upon tests and notebooks:

-Tests will be worth 100 points.

-Cumulative tests will be worth 200 points.

-Notebooks must be kept in a 3-ring binder.  Notebooks will contain notes, examples, practice problems, handouts, labs, TOPS reports, etc.  Items in the student’s notebook will be given appropriate point values.

*If a student is absent the day a test is given, the makeup test will be taken immediately upon return.

*Labs must be made up within one week.  Computer labs must be made up before or after school.

30% of the student's grade is based upon quizzes and projects:

-Quizzes and projects will vary in point value.

*If a student is absent (excused) the day a quiz is given, the makeup quiz will be taken immediately upon return.

*Projects must be made up within one week.

20% of the student's grade is based upon daily work:

-Daily work consists of textbook assignments, worksheets, and Accelerated Math.

-Daily work will be given point a value based upon the number of problems on the assignment.

-All assignments are to be done in pencil.

*Daily work is due the school day following the day it was assigned, unless stated otherwise.

*Daily work for a specific chapter will not be accepted after the student has taken the test on that chapter.

*If a student is absent the day the assignment is due, the assignment must be turned in immediately upon return to math class.

If a student is absent for an extended period of time, special arrangements for makeup work must be made with me.

Students will receive half credit for late tests, notebooks, quizzes, projects, labs, daily work, etc.

No work will be accepted if the absences are not excused.
