Scholarship

Kenneth Lee Draughn from early childhood until adulthood was very ambitious and strived to learn. His infectious spirit and personality often left people amazed at how wonderful they felt after a mere moment around him. Kenneth could make you laugh, cry and think. Kenneth was born on May 2, 1968, in Rockford, Illinois just outside Chicago. Born a twin, Kenneth was the only son of the family. Kenneth began his educational journey early in life with self-made science experiment and dismantling family electronics to see how they worked. Kenneth always excelled in school while being involved in numerous extracurricular activities. From elementary school to high school, Kenneth was a well rounded individual and prided himself in being able to communicate with anyone on any level. In 1989, Kenneth began his college journey at Shippensburg University but after a brief stay, knew he was a Nittany Lion at heart. In 1990, Kenneth transfered to Penn State University were he majored in Public Policy. Also very athletic, Kenneth was on the notorious Penn State football team roster. In June 2001, tradgey struck and Kenneth was physically lost to us forever, though always with us in spirit. Kenneth was a wonderful student, husband and father. Kenneth's ultimate goal was to become an attorney. He anticipated attending law school in the fall of 2002. Therefore, this scholarship will help keep his dreams and aspirations alive for others just like Kenneth Lee Draughn Sr.

The Kenneth L. Draughn, Sr. Memorial Scholarship will be a Pennsylvania State University based Scholarship and will benefit any upper-classman minority student attending Pennsylvania State University with the following qualifications:

The scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis in the amount of $1,250.00. If you are a qualifying student interested in applying for the scholarship, please contact Penn State University at 814-863-7340 for further details.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help keep my husband's memory alive. I plan to keep his dream going for some blessed individual. No matter how small or large, any donation would help me reach the annual goal of $1,250.00.

All donations to the Fund can be forwarded to Pennsylvania State University, c/o David Lieb at 1F Old Main, University Park, Pennsylvania 16802. Please make checks payable to "The Kenneth L. Draughn, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund."
