Wow, we've been incredibly busy.
Zakary is playing football for the Hurricanes -- our first experiences playing football. He really enjoys it, but it's the most time-consuming sport we've done yet. They just went to practicing three days a week instead of four and have games every Sunday in addition to tournaments. Zak has grown a ton and bulked up a bit in the last 6-12 months, so I don't worry about him getting snapped like a twig out there.
Zak will start basketball the end of October, after football. He's also already started selling those AWESOME trash bags for baseball. There are several different kinds, they are all heavy duty, and there are also some brown paper bags, which is what you're supposed to used for lawn care in Lawrence. Zak's playing for a new league this year and they raise all their monies through fundraisers and working a Christmas tree stand in the winter. Please let me know if you'd like to order some trash bags and support his team -- just CLICK HERE to e-mail me! They are only $8.50/roll. Sale ends September 26.
Jani started dance classes at Dance Gallery last month. It is the cutest and funniest thing I've ever seen! The first two weeks, she did great and LOVED it. She's had a cold the last couple weeks and was a little sluggish in class -- ended up picking her nose or was getting it wiped by the instructor 80 percent of the time. The class actually goes until the end of the school year, then they have a big recital in May at the Lied Center. I hope she can keep up with it for that long. I really think she'll enjoy sports more so I'm looking forward to having her try soccer next year..
I also took Jani for her first "real" haircut last week. She gave me the same "angry eyes" look that Zak did when he was her age getting his hair cut. But she sat really still. When Zak was a toddler, he also had some beautiful curls, but once they were cut off, they never came back. I've always regretted that and am concerned that Jani's curls will go away too! But her hair is getting so long and is sometimes hard to manage. Both she and her dad were very concerned that "just a little bit" was coming off!
Matt is still working hard at the VA. He's considering taking on a position that would lessen his patient load but give him even more administrative tasks. He's also still running the residency program and really enjoys doing that.
Matt and I are also finishing up softball season! We're in first place right now and have really had a good time. We hope to continue to play next season. |
