All About Mr. Machin
I was born and grew up in England, in the South East.  My home town of South Woodham Ferrers is about an hour from London.  There, I went to Elmwood County Primary School and William De Ferrers Secondary School.

I went to
University in Leeds, studying Zoology (BSc).  Also in Leeds, I took an English teaching course (cTEFLA).
In 1995, I came to Turkey, originally teaching English at Language schools in the capital, Ankara.

In 1997, I started teaching at
TED Ankara College.  I taught science, alongside maths and English in year 5.  In these photographs, you can see some of my classes, doing a Christmas Pantomime.
In 1999, I went back to England for a year, to do a Science Teaching qualification (PGCE) at Hertfordshire University.

In the Autumn of 1999, I taught at
Parmiter's school, and on the left is a photo of some of my year 7 students.
In the Spring and Summer of 2000, I taught at Rickmansworth school.  These are a few photos of my year 7 students during an anatomy class, and displaying some of their impressive project work.
In the Autumn of 2000, I returned to Turkey and started teaching at Ozel Bilkent Primary School and High School.

In my four years there I had a great time, teaching many different classes and many different years.  I taught general science lessons and lab lessons in middle school (years 6 and 7), and biology in high school (lise 1).  I taught some English (year 8).  Here are some photos of some of my students and colleagues at OBi.

Since 2000, I have been involved in Bilkent University`s teacher training programme.  I helped mentoring student teachers who took some of my classes.  Here are some of our great new teachers on their graduation day!
I was also mentoring and helping with a teacher training course at Bilkent University - here is us out on a fossil hunt... (click here for details)
In July 2003, my daughter Kate Ece was born, pictured here >>>.
In 2004, I left Ozel Bilkent and went back to TED College for 2 years.  Here are photos of my colleagues and students at TED.
In September 2006, I started science teaching at BUPS/BIS, an international school in Ankara.  In my first year, I had a great time teaching science in years 6 & 7, and teaching IGCSE biology in year 8, and the International Baccalaureate biology in year 11.  Here are photos of a great fun year.
This year I am teaching more middle school, and I wish all my students the best of luck for a successful year 2007-8.
