Re-Building the Master Bedroom
First Night of Work
Adam, Melissa, and Seth getting ready
Many layers of Wall: Our blue paint color over wall paper, on panel bopard (the blue stripes that are mostly visible), more wall paper (see the yellow) and then the original plaster over lathe.
Ann & Adam, taking off the walls. The 1st night we took off over 1/2 the plaster and lathe,. We shoveled the plaster into buckets which Seth poured under our deck (it needs to be filled in anyways) and we threw the lathe out the window into the bed of Adam's old truck parked in the alley. Some of the lathe was later turned into a trellis for my neighbor's garden, some was burned.
Another Night
After the 1st night most of the work has falled to Seth and Adam. Seth did a lot of the rest of the work taking the walls completely down and clearing the room. Next, he started the REconstruction by putting up the room's very first INSULATION. Adam has been very instrumental in getting the old electrical updated. We had mostly updated electrical. One very very old electrical line, and one ANCIENT line, which took a LOT of work to replace. It involved removing part of a wall in the basement stairwell, if you can believe it
As of 9-12-06, we are ready to start putting up walls and are trying to decide how much to do ourselves and how much to hire out.
