BreakoutX main/news page

Over a year and no updates?! Just letting you know that BX had, um, had a bit of a break. About a month ago however I purchased a license for the Torque Game Engine ( GarageGames) and I am going to rewrite BX using this. There are a number of reasons for this but the main ones are: quicker development and flexibility - the things I'm going to be able to do now will be awesome. Over the next couple of weeks I intend on redoing the website and updating the dev diary as to where I'm at.

The next demo of BX is getting closer. I have added a few features (particle system being one), changed some textures, added bitmap fonts and fixed a few bugs and things. It looks a lot better than the last demo, a bit more professional IMO. I expect within a couple of weeks it should be ready.

Hey,
thought I had better update the page to let people know that BX is still alive. Another demo should be ready in about 2 weeks hopefully. Just trying to put together some sound effects and some final levels and some UI bits and pieces.
Ah, and I still haven't completed commenting that MD2 source (c++ and vb) but if anyone really wants it just email me and I will do it for them, been a little side tracked lately :)
Also this home page could REALLY do with an update and some graphical changes. I will do this before the next demo.

Shiyit, 2 updates within days of each other, I must be sick....
Anyhoo i have added some new screenshots showing some features I have added to BX and also made a small update to the dev diary. The next feature I will be working on is a particle system for smoke, fire, explosions etc etc.

Just letting you know that I and the game are still alive. Currently working on the in-game UI, im just taking it easy though. Haven't really been working flat out or anything.
BTW got the c++ md2 loading/rendering class working so I will post it on the site for download as soon as I finish commenting it, same goes for the Visual Basic version. Cos im lazy I might just put the code as is, but I might try finish it this weekend.

With some help from the GameDev forums I finally got my MD2 loader working. I am just going to make some changes to the application and comment the code properly and then I will put it up for download. Its in VB but I will also be making a c++ version (classes only, no GUI) once the viewer is completed. Then I will continue working on BreakoutX. Game development should be a bit more fun with proper 3d animations ;)
