The Drowned

It’s been seven years since the day

Everything I loved had gone away

Pulled from the wreckage

I tried to help you breathe

But your lungs were filled

By the unforgiving sea

I tried to make the best of the house I’d inherited

In his note my uncle told me the secret of this place

How he had found answers in an ancient book of the dead

Brought to him by a stranger with a fish-like face

I didn’t heed his warning

Tried to bring you back from the dead

And in the midst of the darkness

I noticed something else came back instead

A single-eyed crawling chaos

Rose up from the depths of the floor

When I brought the chandelier down on it

I heard from the blasphemy no more
