| Klondike Theme This years Klondike's setting will be based on an Alaskan theme and will have 12 Alaska Towns (Stations) where Scout Dens or Patrols will test their scouting skills to earn gold nuggets to earn prizes and awards. (A score sheet will also be provided to keep track of the nuggets earned). Each patrol or den should have 5 to eight scouts with one scout designated as the Den or Patrol Leader. Each Cub Scout Den may have 2 Adult Leaders to work with the Cubs to complete the Station. Each Webelos Den should have 1 Adult Leader to supervise their scouting skills to complete the Station. Scout Patrols or Venture Patrols will be on their own with only the Patrol Leader to guide them. |

| Towns (Stations) Each Alaskan Town (Station) will have a Mayor to award gold nuggets to each Den or Patrol depending how well they complete the activity. Typically 10 gold nuggets may be earned at each Town. Bonus nuggets may be earned by each Patrol or Den by showing Scout Spirit, Team Work and Leadership by the Patrol or Den Leader. A map will be provided showing where the Towns are located. The score sheet for each patrol will be marked with the Starting Town for each Patrol or Den. Each Patrol or Den is to stay at each town for the full 30 minutes. |

| Patrol or Den Equipment Each Patrol or Den will be required to carry the following equipment or items with them as they travel from Town to Town. A Klondike sled woul be the best for to carry the equipment or other type sled may be used. A backpack could be used but the Patrol or Den will need additional material to make a temporary stretcher to transport an injured Scout to a Town with a Hospital. (First Aid) Each Patrol or Den will need: Scout Handbook, Pencil or Pen Wooden Matches Tender (to start a fire) Water (min 1 quart) Small pan with bail Pocket Knife (TotenChip) Kneckerchief (1 per scout) Compass (one) Scout Stave (2) 1 X 2 X 3' Sled (or other) to carry items. Pkg of Hot Chocolate or Soup & Cup recommended as a warm up. |

| Klondike Sled Race Each Patrol or Den may enter the Klondike Sled Race. The sled must be a Klondike type sled with no metal runners. The maximum number of Scouts that may be on each team is eight. One Scout must ride on or in the sled with the remaining seven Scout pulling the sled. The winner of the race will be the team with the best time. Prizes will be awarded in three catagories. Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, and Boy Scouts or a Venture Group. Again, the Cub Scout Dens may have 2 adult leaders to participate in the race. |
