KLIUC Student Makes Malaysian Proud"
Have you ever imagined being in a foreign country and surrounded with different friends in terms of their language, physical look, lifestyle and thinking? This situation has been experienced by a second semester student of Diploma Information Technology in Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC), SYAFIK ASYRAF BIN HARIS who has been chosen to represent Malaysia Scout Association in the 9th International Youth Gathering for Cultural Exchange that was held from 21st until 31st August at Cairo, Egypt.

He was the only Malaysian who was selected to be the country representative to the annual programme. This programme was organized by the Arab Scout Regional Office with the cooperation of ISESCO where 40 participants from 30 countries representing 6 Scout Regional including Asia Pacific, Africa, Arab, Euro Asia, Europe and America Latin.
This programme emphasizes on the human value, history, friendship and brotherhood, peace and also exposures the participants to various cultures and various countries.
According to Syafik, all the times spent in the country rich with historical artifacts, he had gained a lot of interesting experience. He actually had been taken visiting historical places in Egypt, learning the culture and traditional believe from various races, understanding local lifestyle and many mores.
Among of the interesting places he had visited were the Pyramid in Giza, Egypt Museum, Library of Alexandria, Roman Amphitheatre, Wadi Al Natroun, Qaitbay Citadel and many more. "The first time I set my feet on the ground of Egypt, I felt as if I'm dreaming. I can't believe seeing the pyramid structure and other historical monuments which all this while I only watch them on television.
I'm very grateful for this opportunity and the trust given to represent our country to the annual scout gathering programme. This is one of my sweetest memories in my life..." said Syafik.
During the programme, he was given a chance to deliver a talk about Malaysian lifestyle, culture and tradition, and also beliefs to the delegates. The delegates are from countries such as Hong Kong, India, Russia, Tanzania, Mexico, Argentina, Morocco and others.
Furthermore, he was also given a chance to display the traditional Malay costume and also raise the "Jalur Gemilang' in Egypt to commemorate Malaysia 49th Independence Day which fell during his visit. "Even though I'm not in Malaysia at present, I can still feel the spirit of 'independence' here" said Syafik.
