New Year's Eve, 1999 - Midnight show!
The grand finale of the fireworks show started with a multitude of fireworks going off a the Harbor bridge. These were joined by fireworks set off of the Opera House, skyscrapers in the CBD, and some of those Condo buildings on the north side of the Harbor (unfortunately I only have pictures of the bridge).
The beginning of the finale - lights dancing off the bridge:

From our viewpoint, these red fireworks on the bridge made it look like they had set fire to the entire bridge. It was very impressive!

After the fireworks finale, the smoke cleared to reveal the word Eternity scrawled in lights across the Harbor Bridge. Apparently, some religious fundamentalist used to write that word in chalk on the streets of Sydney, and someone thought it was a cool word to signify the dawn of the 21st century.
