Forever Friends
1978-Present
It wasn't chance that led them to live on the same street.
They became inseparable as days and nights went by,
not knowing that a life-long friend had entered each other's life.
They laughed and cried together, even finding trouble too.
Then one sad day they had to part, for one of them had to move.
Though they were very sad, they always kept in touch.
They knew that even distance couldn't change a sisters' love.
Then one glad day it happened, they were once again together.
They lived through good and bad times, through every kind of weather.
They even shared most things like money, jewelry, and clothes,
And some things they've experienced... only few will ever know.
Boyfriends came and boyfriends went, sometimes they liked the same.
But no matter how they disagreed, their friendship still remained.
They encountered many occasions like school, graduation, and prom,
sometimes getting into trouble with the one they called "mom".
Then once again a sad day came, when separation entered their heart,
but this time it was different... it was mom and dad who would part.
Though they were badly shaken and times grew very rough,
their friendship never faltered, even when life seemed too much.
They went on living as usual and then marriage came out of the blue.
One friend found her true love, and the other one did too.
They watched as their lives started changing, and the hands of time quickly passed.
With miles between their two families, 10 years were gone in a flash.
But true to its form, fate came through.. a phone call delivered good news,
and from one friend came the words, "we're going to move close to you".
Well, I guess that you could say, like a garden they have grown
from young girls into women, each year planting a new row.
So now they're starting a new chapter, they already know how it will end.
They just look back and then look forward...
