As I Think of You Today

As I think of you today,
my heart is full and blessed.
Knowing you has made my life richer
and filled with happiness.

You have always shown such kindness,
such gentleness and cheer;
With always an encouraging word
to chase away doubt and fear.

Your love never came with conditions
you never favored status or name;
but you displayed a Christ-like example
and loved everyone the same.

As I think of you today I'm encouraged
to have shared this life with you.
In a world so full of heartache
you've proven that love will guide us through.

Your faith in God never waivered
No matter the trials you faced.
And even at the end of your journey
you stood ever strong in faith.

I wish there was some way to repay you
for all the good you've done.
But I'm afraid I only fall short,
so I'll let God be the one.

The one who leads you thru heaven
and gives you your many rewards
for all the miles you've traveled
in the service of the Lord.

I'll ask him to wipe away your tears
and bring you to his side.
Where you can view all of heaven
with your new and perfect eyes.

But if I know you, you're standing
with your hand raised in the air,
singing praises to the Savior...
how I wish I could be there.

It must be such a great reunion
you are having there today.
I'm sure many loved ones were waiting
when you arrived at heaven's gate.

Yes, as I think of You today, I'm rejoicing,
although it's hard to let you go.
But keep waiting for me and watching,
and soon we'll meet around God's throne.
