My next step was to use the third sheet of plywood I had to create a deck. The sheet was slightly curved from over the winter. (I don't know what causes this, but it worked out perfectly.) All I did at this point was lay the hull on top of the sheet and trace the outline. Pretty low tech, and it wasn't perfectly even, but in the long run it isn't going to matter. Note that this picture shows the deck coming all the way to the end, but in the fnished product, there will actually be a "well" of sorts here. This is necessary for the electric motor to be attached to the transom.
This is a shot of the deck from the bow. Unfortunately, the way the plywood curved it was the b-side out. Not a big deal though, because time and epoxy are things I have. This deck will have fibreglass cloth on it too, so as far as the bumps and knots go, I'll sand that bridge when I come to it.
I can just imagine her cutting through the dark deep lakewater as she sinks to the ... oops, I mean on her way to famous fishing grounds.
Now through the miracle of technology you can imagine a blurry image of my future boat.
I am quite boring in person and I don't see why my website should be any different. Ergo, another picture of the bow of my boat. If you think this is bad wait till I go on a vacation and invite you over to look at the slides.
The front and rear portions of the deck have been cut and are overlapping. I decided to join them with a modified butt joint (modified in the sense that there will be a supporting strut just inside the hatch alongside the buttblock) If you can't imagine this then wait till Phase 9.
I don't have anything to say with this picture, however, since I have started a precedent with accompanying every picture with some blithe disarticulation, I submit this to you: "Boatbuilding is a therapeutic, wholesome hobby and with a nice side benefit being that most times, you end up with a boat!" - Michael Scramstad
