Believed to be full-blooded Cherokee.
Marion Randolph, niece of Edward Parson, got this information from him and also her mother, Nettie.
According to the Swedish Lutheran Church records at Cheyenne (Sheyenne), the Parson name is spelled Pearson and pronounced Pairson.
Jepson is pronounced 'Yepson'. Jepson is Karna's father's 1st name with 'son' on the end of it......this is a Swedish customl Girls had to drop their own last name 9maiden name an add 'son' to their father's 1st name to be married by.
Skane is pronounced Skona.
When family lived in Aton and Casslake, the family went to the Swedish Lutheran Church, specific name unknown.
When family lived in North Dakota, they went to Grandfield Lutheran church. It is also Swedish Lutheran. Dadie Annete and her husband Axel Erickson are both buried there.Grandpa Ola Parson was a Stoneman, and built much of the foundations, etc, that still stand in Afton, Minnesota.
Karna Erlandson (Jepson) Parson, had one sister that is known of. She is thought to be older than Karna and apparently married at least twice. She had three boys that are known: Pete Anderson, Olaf Anderson, and Nels Larson. Nels was half brother to Pete and Olaf. In her obituary (given by Sadie) says 'one brother survives her in Sweden. (Sept 4, 1933.)
According to Marion Randolph's records (niece of Edward Parson) Karna was confimed in the Luthern faith at approximately 10 years of age.
Karna died at home and was buried at Grandfield Cemetary, 9 miles from Cheyenne and 1 1/2 miles from family home. Home was on Aunt Sadie and Uncle Axel's Farm. Apparently Karna's husband, Ola was an alcoholic. She left him and stayed with her daughter and son-in-law.
It would appear from Marion's records that Karna's dad was Jeppa Erlandson.
69 years of age at death. Buried in Plot D.
