MEMBERSHIP
Membership is not just the responsibility of the membership chair or the president; obtaining memberships for PTA is something we all should be working for together.
In 2003-2004 the 4th district reported 16,138 members, which was an increase of 1,465 from the previous year! The state of Georgia had approximately 340,000 members. National PTA boasts 6 million members and you are all a part of that success. PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy organization. Each membership helps support the ability (and credibility) to advocate for
all children. From hot lunches to safety laws...PTA is there at the capitol to speak for the benefit and out of concern for every child in this nation. Let your members (and potential members) know their membership is more than just a $5.00 loss out of their pocket...tell them about the true value and appreciation we have for their support. Believe it and help others understand that PTA is not just a fundraiser committee.

A challenge has been given by Bob Boyer, Georgia PTA Membership Chair, to all Georgia PTAs to increase their memberships by 5% over last year. The 4th district is asking our units to
"kick it up a notch" and have a personal goal of a 10% increase (with the exception of the PTAs that had memberships last year of over 700...5% increase should be your personal PTA goal). Of course, there are membership awards outlined by state (as listed below), but if your PTA will work toward the 5-10% increase, the rest will soon follow.
