| SURF (Photoshop) This creation originally was meant to be the background for the August pinup. But I liked the background SO much that I felt it would do very well on it's own. So I saved the layers, merged them together and ...voila! SURF was born. In the beginning I'd only intended to have the surf far in the background. But a couple of days ago I was surfing the web looking for tutorials on how to draw with Photoshop when I found a website (www.Epilogue.net/art/tech/) that contained a few tutorials on how to do rocks and grass, clouds and skin tones. I read a paragraph or two and dove (pardon the pun) right into creating the rocks you see in the picture. I was very much influenced by the rocks I'd seen numerious times off Dana Point in Southern California. One of my FAVORITE places to visit in the entire state. There is a rock that sits close to shore that the sea gulls (as well as people at low tide) love to sit on. I tried to capture the way the surf broke against the rocks as the tide came in and how it swirled around the rocks and onto the sand each day. The Seagulls (all but the small one in the background) I found at the Art today site. They had a few pieces of clip art that featured gulls so I sketched them freehand, scanned them and added them to the picture. I'm extremely proud of how this seascape came out. When I look at it, sometimes it is hard for me to believe that I could create such an image. Of course, as in everything, there is need for improvement, but considering how much of a novice I am when it comes to computer graphics, I don't think this picture came out to badly. |
