      Strawberry Shortcake

  Who doesn't love shortcake? It's a staple during the summer and a nice little slice of July in the middle of winter.

Ingredients:
1 12 oz. package of strawberries
3/4 c. sugar
2 c. Bisquick
1/3 c. milk
pinch of salt
1 c. heavy cream

  • clean and chop strawberries into 1/2 inch pieces
  • mix strawberries with 1/2 c. of sugar. set aside.
  • prepare biscuits as directed on Bisquick box
  • in chilled mixing bowl combine heavy cream and 1/4 c. sugar
  • beat heavy cream with chilled beaters until stiff peaks form
  • cut 'X' into top of baked biscuits
  • serve warm, topped with strawberries and fresh whipped cream

Prep Time: about 30 minutes
Cook Time: about 20 minutes
