This is a transcription of the records at the Mesquite Public library. Due to possible errors inherent in transcriptions, it is best to check the original to confirm details.
Doc Glenn, Charlie Stark and Cicero Floyd of Kleberg donated 1 and a half ; acres for a cemetery about 1910 for the black people of this area. Mr. Roy Stafford took care of the cemetery for years: since he was unable to continue- the cemetery has growing up with grass and weeds. Many of the tombstones have been destroyed by vandals. Dates on some of the stones have been obliterated.

n November 2001 there are only a few Headstones left.The pictures of the tombstones were taken at this time.
To get to the cemetery get off 1-175 and drive 1.3 miles on Simonds Rd.

There is no Sign on the property, only a few tomb stones. I have noted the stones that were no longer there in Nov. 2001.
