| All persons especialy thouse with diseases and disorders, should be thoroughly screened for: * Cavities * Periodontal diseases * Oral and throat cancer * Other local and systemic diseases that show up in the mouth. |

| However, many people have limited access to preventive care. They may be homebound, in specialized facilities or unable to receive care in a dental office. To solve this problem, the California legislature has created a category of dental health professionals called the Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice, (RDHAP). The RDHAP provides specific preventive procedures such as: * Oral health screening * Fluoride application * Preventive sealants The RDHAP can deliver on-site dental hygiene services |
