What To Do?
"No one  should suffer from oral diseases or conditions that can be effectively treated or prevented."
Richard H. Carmona, MD MPG, FAC
Surgeon General
US Public Health Service
All persons especialy thouse with diseases and disorders, should be thoroughly screened for:

*  Cavities
*  Periodontal diseases
*  Oral and throat cancer
*  Other local and systemic diseases that show up in the mouth.
However, many people have limited access to preventive care.  They may be homebound, in specialized facilities or unable to receive care in a dental office.

To solve this problem, the California legislature has created a category of dental health professionals called the Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice, (RDHAP).  The RDHAP provides specific preventive procedures such as:

*  Oral health screening
*  Fluoride application
*  Preventive sealants

The RDHAP can deliver on-site dental hygiene services
