| Welcome everyone to my 1968 Firebird H.O. page. This page has constantly changed over the past few years as I was working on my engine and body workt. I have created these pages for the benefit of the First Generation Firebird List and all those really helpful guys there. Make sure you check out the link on the home page. Hopefully I will be able to provide some info and pictures of my car to help the cause. By the way, not all the pictures will benefit the list, some I might say are the result of me being really proud of my car..................OK, here go! | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Here is my car. Let me tell you a little bit about it, this may only be interesting to Firebird and Pontiac lovers. This is an original 1968 Firebird H.O.(High Output). It was dubbed by Pontiac as the "light heavyweight" of Firebird models. This car was an early 68 built in November of 1967 at the Lordstown Ohio plant. The car is Verdoro Green with a black vinyl top, black standard interior, and a white H.O. stripe. The car only has 68,000 original miles and is entirely numbers matching. The 1968 H.O. Firebird came standard with a 350 CI V8 that was modified over the regular 350CI V-8. The motor was rated at 320 HP and 380 lb./fts. Torque stock. These numbers were mostly acheived with different heads, a more aggresive cam, a Rochester Quadrajet 4BBL carb and standard dual exhausts. My car came off the line with a Muncie 4 speed manual transmission with a hurst shifter. Other options include Burlwood center console with console clock, power steering, AM/FM radio, Deluxe steering wheel, soft ray glass with bird emblem, Rally II wheels and 14" wide oval redline tires. The rear is a 3.36 standard open axle. Well, the body work was finally finished in the spring of 2004 and the car is ready to cruise. I have some engine break-in over the next few thousand miles, but hey that ought to be fun............right? It feels good to be cruising in an old fashioned poncho power machine. Happy cruising everyone. |
