| Hi there, I'm Klaus, a German musician and music teacher living in Taipei. I play piano, keyboard, accordion, sometimes a little bit guitar, I'm a singer / songwriter and I offer piano, keyboard and accordion classes. I can be found playing and listening to music styles like Jazz, Rock, Reggae, Pop, Oldies, Classic, as long as I like the song. (of course with a few exceptions ;-). But what I really love to play is the Blues. There is so much feeling in the music. Blues is the kind of music which comes directly from the heart and soul, and it's telling stories. Like Otis Spann said: "Most of the people who come to hear us, want to hear stories of their own experiences. That's what we give them." Sometimes people ask me, what Blues is, well, it's not that easy to answer. If you ask a Blues musician what Blues is, you'll probably get the answer: Blues is more than just music, Blues is passion and attitude. If you ask a musicologist, you'll hear something about Afro-American music, 12-bar patterns and Blues-scale. I personally agree with this statement: It is the most passionate music, rooted in ancient Africa but brought to blossom in America at the doorstep of the twentieth century. It is a living heritage of song born in poverty, persecution, and hard labor, born of love betrayed, of holiness and sin, the pleasures and pain of the flesh, the experience of tragedy, comedy, drunkenness, despair, desolation, and pure joy. This is the Blues. For small collection of great Blues masters, click here Blues on !!! |
