3D STUDIO VIZ R2 TRAINING CURRICULUM
Animating a Heliplane

  1. CREATING THE PLANE'S BODY FROM A SPHERE
    1. In the 'Left View Port' create a red sphere, with radius about 1000, below the Blades and ahead of the Motor.
    2. Modify the sphere using 'Edit Mesh' with 'SubObject Vertex' turned on, which will highlight all the vertexes .
    3. In the 'Left View Port' carefuly start erasing the second row of vertexes, just above the horizontal center line, and then work your way up until you have a perfect hemisphere.
    4. bodyIn the 'Top View Port' carefuly move the top extreme vertexes further to the top, a suitable distance into a point, see right. Also adjust the rest of the vertexes a proportional distanc, right.
    5. Once this is done drag the top layer of vertexes in 'Top View Port' down to provide a front hood, right. Also raise the nose of the body in the 'Left View Port' until it is level with the rest of the body.
      NOTE:
Make sure the rear of the body is just below the rotor.
    6. Similarily, with a sphere of the same diameter, make a cyan windshield on the front of the body, above right.
    7. Click on the material editor button change the Opacity slider to 34 in Window 5 and click the 'Assign Material' button to the activated Windshield.
