[Earlier versions of this research listed him as "Sigbjornsdatter",obviously this was a mistake]. Salve was considered a good carpenter, blacksmith and bricklayer, also a farmer. He was one of the firstmembers of "formannskapet in 1838" (town or parish council). He was agood juror and assessor. A many from the bygd told that he had a forgebellows that Salve had made. The bellows were so good and tight thatwhen he blazed it up, he cpould go out and the bellows would holduntil he came back.
in Budal there is a wall he built. Eiel built a new house before hemoved from there and Salev laid the stones on the cottage wall. Itis made of natural stone and has lasted over 100 years and is still ingood shape.
Salve had 12 children in all and managed to raise them on a smallstoney and heavy used farm. He worked hard in his time. They didn'thave dynamite to loosen the stones, so he made a big fire and when thestones were very hot, they poured water on them. They loosened andbecame brittle so they could get them up. There was a largefortification in the hill hwich Salve and his sons laid up in histime. It is a wonder that so many could live in a small farm and stillbe the best in the bygd. It is not known when Salve died, but he wasgone ni 1865. The children became spread out in the inner and outerbygds.
This hcristening date and parentage are derived from thecircumstancial evidence in the LDS records. This data is suspect andis provided as a placeholder until it can be confirmed.
