According to the Norwegian Bureau of Statistics there are today 17 women who are named Regitze. The name has been used in Denmark for centuries, and still is. One of my ancestors, born about 1460, was called Regitze. Through the centuries there have been some famous Regitzes, as for instance Regitze, daughter of the Danish king Waldemar I "the Great". She was married to the Swedish king Erik X Knutsson. Her maternal grandmother was Richiza (Rychsa, Rixa), daughter of the Polish king Boleslaw III, so the name Regitze is possibly of Polish origin.
