The farm lies under the precipitous rocky ascent which leads up toEitland. From this comes the name "Kleiva". Kleiva is one of thenewest farms in the county and has, from the beginning been a mountainsummer farms. A letter from 1613 tells of a real estate exchange onFosdal between Astrid Eiriksdotter and Kjetil Ånenson. It is writtenthat "the summer pasture which lays under the rocky ascent (kleiva)"belongs with East Fosdal. In an older judgement, there is named HansBagge on Fosdal and this is truly that Baggeslåtta (hayfield) underKleiva that is named after him. Kleiva has not been listed as anindependent farm in 1611 because it was not in the district. Registerfor the Kolmar War. We also don't find Kleive in KR 4S land register in 1618, but under East Fosdal there is an "uninhabited farm" listed in addition. This must be Kleiva.
