INT.HOSPITAL ? MRI ROOM
Derek sits looking at the screen of a computer with one of the technicians. Meredith looks over his shoulder.
 MEREDITH
Addisonisn?t happy about me being your intern.
 DEREK
She?ll get over it.
 MEREDITH
She was rampaging.
 DEREK
She?ll be fine.
 MEREDITH
She?s looking for you.
 DEREK
I can handle her. Damn it.She?s bleeding. We?re going to have to go in and drain the blood. Dr. Grey, I want you to book an OR.
  MEREDITH
Right away, Dr. Sheppard.
Meredith hurries out of the room.
INT.HOSPITAL ? RIPLEY?S OFFICE
Ripley sits at her computer, typing e mails to friends while waiting for Richard to show up for his appointment. Her intercom beeps. Ripley pushes a button.
 ROBIN
Dr. Buffet, Dr. Webber is here to see you.
 RIPLEY
 Excellent. Send him in Robin.
Ripley saves her e mails and picks her reading glasses up from her desk and slides them on. She grabs her notebook and tape recorder and sits down in her chair as Richard enters.
 RIPLEY
 Good afternoon, Dr. Webber.
 RICHARD
 Good afternoon, Dr. Buffet.
 RILPLEY
I have to say, I?m surprised that you decided to continue our sessions.
 RICHARD
Honestly, I wasn?t going to.
 RIPLEY
What made you change your mind?
 RICHARD
Ellis Grey.
 RIPLEY
Ok. Why did she make you change your mind?
 RICHARD
I went to go visit her a few days ago. She wanted me to take her to the fair.
 RIPLEY
There?s no fair going on.
 RICHARD
Ellis has alzheimer?s. The local fair is where we officially broke up.
 RIPLEY
So she?s still reliving parts of your internship?
 RICHARD
Yes.
 RIPLEY
Do you miss Ellis?
 RICHARD
Yes. Don?t get me wrong, I love Adele.
 RIPLEY
But?
 RICHARD
But she?s just not Ellis.
 RIPLEY
Do you wish that you had left Adele for Ellis?
 RICHARD
Yes and no.
 RIPLEY
Why no?
 RICHARD
Because, I love Adele. And as hard as it is for me to visit Ellis right now, it would have been harder on me if I would have stayed with her.
 RIPLEY
Then why do you regret it?
 RICHARD
Because, I love Ellis.
 RIPLEY
Dr. Webber, this seems to be a never ending circle. You love Adele, but you love Ellis and it hurts when you go visit Ellis, but you do it, anyway.
 RICHARD
Yes.
 RIPLEY
Does Adele know that you visit Ellis?
 RICHARD
No. (pause) She doesn?t even know that Ellis has Alzheimer?s. (pause) Adele threatened to leave me. A few weeks ago.
 RILPEY
Why did she threaten to leave you?
 RICHARD
She thinks that I put the hospital first.
 RIPLEY
Do you?
 RICHARD
Let?s just say that last Thanksgiving, instead of going to dinner I was here putting it off by checking the board.
 RILPEY
Dr. Webber? What are you going to do when you retire?
 RICHARD
I?m never going to retire. Ever.
INT.HOSPITAL ? PIT
George sutures a patient?s face. The patient is Lake. Callie walks over to him.
 CALLIE
 Dr. O?Malley.
 GEORGE
 Dr. Torres.
 CALLIE
We need to talk, Dr. O?Malley.
 GEORGE
I am doctoring here, Dr. Torres.
 CALLIE
You can take a break from doctoring, Dr. O?malley.
 GEORGE
Actually, Dr. Torres. Dr. Bailey would have my hide if I stopped doctoring.
Callie walks off in a huff.
 LAKE
She does not seem like the type of person you want to piss off.
 GEORGE
Well, it?s too late for that. She?s my ex-girlfriend. She woke up this morning pissed off at me.
 LAKE
Ouch.
 GEORGE
Tell me about it. We?re broken up. Can?t she just leave me alone.
 LAKE
No dude, that really hurts.
 GEORGE
Ohh. Sorry.
INT.HOSPITAL ? CODE ROOM
Christina stands with a group of nurses as another person is brought in on a gurney.
 CHRISTINA
I hate being on the code team. Ok, let?s try to save this guy.
Christina goes through the motions, doing everything that?s expected to save the guy.
INT.HOSPITAL ? BASEMENT
Alex works on a stack of post op notes on a gurney. Izzy walks over and jumps on the bed next to him and begins doing her own notes.
 IZZY
I?m surprised to see you down here.
 ALEX
I could say the same for you.
 IZZY
Yeah, well. Lacy doesn?t like me. That girl is scary and she?s out to get me. So, I?m hiding.
 ALEX
I think it?s all in your head.
 IZZY
No, she stands there and gives me angry stares, especially when I answer a question right.
 ALEX
At least you?re practicing real medicine.
 IZZY
Post ops?
 ALEX
For life. From captain of the gyno squad to this. At this point, I?d rather be on the gyno squad.
 IZZY
I?m sure Addison would take you back.
Alex gives Izzy a dirty look when Izzy?s pager goes off. She lifts it up and looks at it.
 IZZY
 911. Gotta go.
Izzy jumps off of the gurney and starts running down the hall.
EXT.HOSPITAL ? PARKING LOT
Izzy is the first of the pediatric interns there and ready with Dr. Johnson.
 IZZY
 What have we got?
 PARAMEDIC
 Mother ran the child over.
 JOHNSON
Izzy, get him in an OR stat. We?re going to have our work cut out for us.
Lacy, Bill and Jason come walking over.
 LACY
What do you want us to do?
Johnson lets Izzy take the gurney and roll it inside the hospital, the doors still open.
 JOHNSON
I want you three to take over Dr. Stevens patients. She?s got a surgery to scrub in on because you three couldn?t get off your asses to get up here soon enough.

 BILL
We got here as fast as we could.
 JOHNSON
Then how did Dr. Stevens get here faster than you three?
 LACY
We were on the other side of the hospital.
JOHNSON (yells through the still open doors.)
Stevens! Where were you?
 IZZY (yelled)
Other side of the hospital, in the basement.
 JOHNSON
She ran up several flights of stairs and got here the exact moment the ambulance got here. Not after. There is no walking on this job. There is only running. You know better than that.
Johnson jogs into the hospital after Izzy and his patient.
 LACY
 I hate her.
 JASON
Lacy, she?s one of the best.
 LACY
I don?t care. She makes us look bad. She?s going to slip and I?m going to be the one to catch her.
 BILL
Wouldn?t your time and energy be better spent studying?
 LACY
Absolutely not.
INT.HOSPITAL ? ELEVATOR
Ripley rubs her eyes and climbs on the elevator. She pushes the button for the main floor as Alex comes running down the hall and slides through the elevator doors. Ripley visibly stiffens at the sight of Alex.
 ALEX
 Dr. Buffet.
 RIPLEY
 Dr. Karev.
 ALEX
I?m going to tell you something and if you tell anyone else, they?re not going to believe you.
 RIPLEY
Ok.
 ALEX
I?m sorry for the way I?ve been acting. In all honesty, I probably should be with a head shrink. I?m not telling you this next part as an excuse, just to make things a little clearer.
 RIPLEY
Ok.
 ALEX
When I was younger, my father was a musician. And addicted to smack, which seems to be okay in your profession. He hit me. And my mom. And then one day, I hit back. He took off.
 RIPLEY
I see. (pause) Not all musicians do drugs, ya know. Contrary to popular belief, there are quite a few who don?t.
 ALEX
But the more well known ones do.
 RIPLEY
Yes, the more well known ones do.
The elevator doors ding open. Ripley steps out and turns around.
 RIPLEY
There?s no way I can take you on as a patient, now. Have a good day, Dr. Karev.
 ALEX
I know. That?s partly why I told you. You have a good day, too, Dr. Buffet.
Ripley turns to leave the hospital.
INT.HOSPITAL ? PATIENT?S ROOM
Meredith stands explaining the procedure to Julie?s parents.
 MEREDITH
Julie?s bump caused her brain to bleed.
 TERRY
 What does that mean?
 MEREDITH
It means that we?re going to go in and relieve the pressure. There are some risks doing the procedure, because it is on the brain. But there?s a higher risk if we don?t relieve pressure.
 KATHY
What is this going to mean for the meet later today?
 MEREDITH
There?s no way she?s going to be able to compete. She?ll have to take a few weeks off from physical activity.
 TERRY
The Olympic trials are coming up.
 MEREDITH
I know, but isn?t your daughter?s health more important?
 KATHY
She?s a gymnast. She?ll be too old to compete in the Olympics if she doesn?t get on the team this year.
 MEREDITH
I?m sorry, but these are the facts.
 KATHY
Can?t we have a second opinion?
Derek walks into the room. Kathy turns to Derek.
 KATHY
She was going to try out for the Olympic team.
 DEREK
I know this is difficult to understand, but we need to proceed as soon as possible.
 TERRY
But the Olympic trials?
 DEREK
Let?s worry about getting her through the procedure before we even think that far ahead.
 KATHY
All right.All right.
 DEREK
Dr. Grey, take Julie down to the OR.
 MEREDITH
Right away, Dr. Sheppard.
Meredith gets the bed ready to be wheeled down to the OR and Derek steps out into the hallway. Addison walks down the hallway and a fire enters her eyes when she sees Derek. She angrily walks over to him.
 ADDISON
 Dr. Sheppard.
 DEREK
Dr. Montgomery, can I help you?
 ADDISON
 Dr. Grey is my intern.
 DEREK
Correction. She is Bailey?s intern. And at the moment, she is MY intern.
 ADDISON
She will be my intern again tomorrow.
Addison turns and walks away.

  DEREK
Addison, do you even know if Meredith has any interest in your specialty? Possibly making it her own?
 ADDISON
That is not the point Dr. Sheppard.
Addison continues walking.
 DEREK
That should be the point Addison.
Addison wheels around.
 ADDISON
Don?t call me Addison. I?m not ready for you to call me Addison, Addi or any of the like. Got it?
 DEREK
Got it.
Mark walks down the hall, then puts an arm around Addison.
 MARK
 Hey sweetie.
 ADDISON
Don?t you dare even ?hey sweetie? me.
Addison knocks his arm from around her shoulders, gives him a scathing look and continues down the hallway.
 DEREK
 She?s a little angry.
Derek smiles.
 MARK
 Just mildly.Derek?
 DEREK
 I haven?t forgiven you, yet.
Derek turns and walks in the opposite direction.
 MARK
 Derek? Come on.
Derek ignores him and continues walking. Meredith pushes Julie?s gurney out into the hallway.
 MARK
So you?re the reason for the angry hallway fights.
 MEREDITH
I?m usually the culprit when it comes to those two.
 MARK
Where are you taking her?
 MEREDITH
OR. Walk with me. What are you still doing here?
Meredith pushes the gurney towards the OR.
 MARK
Trying to convince Addi to move to New York.
 MEREDITH
Try harder.
 MARK
Now, why would you want her gone?
 MEREDITH
Because I?m tired of being dragged on her cases. She is one bitter red head.
 MARK
So I guess the dirty mistresses won out this time?
 MEREDITH
Score one for us.
