Oscar and Florida Svien

Oscar Svien, well known fiddler in McVille, ND's early years, was born in 1871 and died at Everette, WA. from a heart attack at age 59. He and his wife Florida, at one time ran the Lone Tree Restaurant in McVille, ND. (located in the building now occupied by Gronaas Floral) in affiliation with Mr. and Mrs. Cap Braaten. Oscar Svien was also termed a good "separaterman" during the long threshing runs each fall. They were the parents of Ralph, Vernon who died at age nine,
Myrtle (Mrs. Herbert Overland)
who had 2 girls Fern & Norinne.
Mr. Svien was a brother of Mrs. Knute Haugen, Mrs. Martin Martinson, Mrs. Mary Myrhes, Mrs. Dalh, Henry & Lewis Svien.
