In August of 1976, Capitol Records of Canada released an album named "3:47 e.s.t." by an unknown band named Klaatu. The LP contained no photos of the band members and the sound and style resembled that of the newly parted Beatles, and that sent rumours flying and interest in the recording soaring.
Klaatu with the help of Canadian record producer Terry Brown (known for his work with Rush and others), recorded the beautifully orchestrated "3:47 e.s.t.". Consisting of a wide variety of musical arrangements flourishing in incredible harmonies, "3:47 e.s.t." remains an outstanding accomplishment in recorded sound. Klaatu was never to achieve the notoriety they rightly derserved, nor did they recieve the breaks and exposure that would have no doubt placed them amongst the supergroups of the seventies and eighties.
