what is bhp? engine produces power, measured in brake horsepower. standard measurement= 1.6 litre horse can lift 550 lb weight at the speed of one foot per second....= ihp.
why brake horsepower? because it's the same as horsepower. word brake refers to the fact that the power is measured on a 'braked' dyno-where the dyno rollers are braked to provide rolling resistance against the engine BUT:--- power isnt the most important measure of how good an engine is...the main thing is Torque...torque describes the ability of the engine at converting air/fuel mix into motive force.
TIPS TO DYNO TEST KERETA ANDA 1) check minyak,air, fuel level before pegi 2) pump tayar sampai penuh...specified pressure...guna gaugeto check 3) check semua bolt on bits/pieces dekat motor tu..tak mau nanti tanggal 4) kalau kereta terlebih lowered...bumper maybe kena cabut....sebab kalau rendah sangat ..depa tak leh nak run roller tuh...sangkut..
menatang ape dyno test nih and menatang ape depa buat masa dyno test nih??? 1)kereta tu depa drive..sampai 4 bijik tayar sit on the rollers. menatang rollers nih buleh rotate... 2) depa ikat kereta tu.....sebab takut takut laa kereta terkeluar from roller tu.....kalau tayar terkeluaq from roller tu..mati la...sebab roller ni..buleh pusing sampai 200 km/h
3) depa letak kipas sebesaq dunia kat depan keerta....ye la...cooling!! and ventilation..kalau tak..mati busuk asap ler.. gegehehe
4) ok...pastuh....depa run roller ni....but not free spinning...sebab kalau free spinning..mmg pecah berkecai laa roller tu..sebab power from tayar..and the speed at the tayar is rotating..mmg laju nak mampus...so..what they do is..they put a force to drag the rotation of the tyre.....so the tyre is not freely rotating....i.e providing resistance to the work that the engine's doing! 5) pastu mamat mekanik ni..dia naik lu punya kereta...dia start engine.....dia pun rev laa...masuk gear...dia rev.....dari gear satu sampai 4 pastu....dia biar rev tu turun as low as possible, but just enough for the car to pull cleanly/jalan tak mampus ler tu...hehe....dalam rpm 1500 macam tu.pastu,,dia tekan lagi ...rev sampai red line..kekadang sampai cut off...kalau fuel injection cars.....
6) semua figures....semua calculationl..dia amik kat komputer..aku tak tau laah ape yg dia kira...but lepas tuh yg aku tau..dapat sebijik kertas...ade graph..torque..against rev.....untuk nak tengok macam mana response kereta at certain rev.... oh ya...dyno nih...bukan measure torque...dia measure the turning force on the drum delivered by the wheels.....and finally..macam aku cakap dalam my previous message....bhp ni ade 2.....satu on wheel bhp..satu engine bhp kan? well..to be precised...ade on wheel bhp and lagi satu flywheel bhp...... but flywheel bhp selalunya lagi tinggi from on wheel bhp...typically 20% higher...sebab between flywheel and tayar ni...banyak loss...banyak friction.....
