| Hi, we are the Ortman's and we collect John Deere lawn & garden tractors/attachments, tractor memoribilia, and anything else John Deere or farm related. We live between Winamac & Kewanna in north central Indiana. So far we have seven running JD tractors, two under restoration and quite a few attachments. The smallest tractor is our 1972 model 70 lawn tractor. For it we have a model #34 mower deck, #40 front blade and #80 dump cart that is a newer one with a sticker serial number tag and black frame. We have also added a #50 dump cart for it. Next is our 1968 112 manual lift, Tecumseh powered garden tractor. It was our first John Deere. For it we have a #39 mower deck, #37A snowthrower, #43 front dozer blade with the "from the seat" angle kit, #31 tiller with two tine extension assemblies, #541A PTO attachment, front & rear wheel weights, tire chains, both turf & bar-style rear tires, intregral hitch, front & rear lift kits, and factory head & tail lights. Next is a 1972 140 H-3 hydrostatic drive garden tractor. For it we have a #48 mower deck, #49 snowthrower, #54 front dozer blade with hydraulic angle, #54C center blade with hydraulic angle, #33 tiller with two tine extension assemblies, #542 PTO attachment, rear wheel weights, both turf & bar-style rear tires, front frame weight bracket with 3 slab weights, intregral hitch, rear hydraulic outlet kit, 3 point hitch and tire chains. The next tractor we purchased is a 1978 214 manual lift tractor. It has the front lift kit, rear lift kit, integral hitch, #47 deck, one pair of rear wheel weights and both bar and turf rear tires. Most attachments we have for the 112 tractor will also fit the 214. We also have one more #80 cart. It is an early cart that has a brass serial number tag, green frame and the narrow 4.00/4.80-8 wheels. We have added two new tractors to the stable over the winter of 2003. The first is a rough 1971 120 hydrostat tractor. This tractor will be our first attempt at restoring a tractor, as it is rough enough that it should be taken all the way apart, fixed, cleaned up and painted. In January of 2004 we finally added a round fender to our collection. It is a 1965 110 manual lift tractor. One of the amazing things about it is that it still has it's original hood that has no cracks and the latch rivits are still tight on it. Although it did not come with a mower deck, it did come with many extra parts. It included all the parts to attach a mower deck to it, the helper spring kit, integral hitch, a newer #31 tiller that has had all the hitch parts changed to make it into a #30, #36 snowthrower, #42 front blade, factory headlight kit (uninstalled), two front slab weights and one pair of cast rear wheel weights. It is a very nice, straight, original tractor. The newest tractor added to our stable in May of 2005 is a 1989 318. It came with a 50" deck and we have already added a 3pt hitch and a cylinder lock-out valve. Also now added as options to it are the deluxe seat suspension kit, mower deck transport latch kit, flow diverter valve kit, rear hydraulic outlet kit, rear 2000 RPM PTO and the hydrostat drive linkage update kit. We also have the adapter bracket to mount the chute control rod to the tractor for using our #49 snowthrower. It is a very straight and clean tractor that only had 949 hours on it when bought. During the summer of 2008 we have added two additional tractors. The first is a 1964 110. It is a restoration in progress, but is a complete, original tractor that has a helper spring attachment. We have wanted a 3-speed for the collection. We also have added a 1967 112 manual lift. This was repainted by a retired bodyshop man. There are a few things that need changed to make it original, but when done it will look great. It has most of the parts for the integral hitch as well as the helper spring kit. We also have three front end adapter kits. The first is to adapt a #43 front blade to round fender tractors. Next we have both adapters to put round fender attachments onto flat fender tractors, one is for #42 front blades and the other is for #36 snowthrowers. We also have a few Brinly attachments that work on the intregral hitch's. We have a 10"plow (model PP-510), two 8" plows (models PP-100 and PP-508), two single action disks (model DD-500) and three cultivators (models CC-600, CC-525 and CC-500). For the 3-point hitch on the 140 and 318 tractors we have a Brinly tandem disk, model DD-1000, a Brinly 3-point hitch to sleeve hitch A-frame adaper, model HH-1000 (along with reproduction fork lift fork attachment kit), a reproduction of the Brinly drawbar kit, a PP-1000 12" plow and a CC-1000 cultivator. We have also purchased an unidentified rear sleeve hitch mounted scoop bucket. It looks very similer to the front mounted "Buccateer" style scoops, but is made to mount on the integral hitch (it is not a Scoop-Tote brand though). | Our collection of JD L&G tractors. | These tractors are not "restored", although the 1968 112 has had the frame, wheels & motor painted when I overhauled it in the summer of 1999 and the hood and fender deck painted in the spring of 2003. The 70,140, 318 and 110 are in original shape, but the 140 have has the hood and fender deck painted in the spring of 2003. The 214 is also original, but needs some work yet to look nice, although the engine did get overhauled during the winter of 2003. The 120 and 1964 110 are works in progress and the 1967 112 has had a professional paint job. I am also using this website to post technical information for JD garden tractors, mostly for the 1982 and earlier ones. If there is something you would like to see posted, please e-mail me & I'll see what I can do to get it up here. Thanks, Kent and Kelly Ortman |
